About Me

I'm a 40-plus-year resident of Yakima County with over 25 years of experience in the County Assessor office. I first started in 1995 as a part-time data entry specialist after leaving the Navy and have continued to strive to serve the County ever since. I am currently the Chief Deputy and Property Database Manager for the Assessors Office. I believe in service over self and have worked hard with the current County Assessor to bring customer service first and foremost in our work for the County. I believe in efficiency, equity in taxation, and above all transparency in the work we do for all of the County.

Yakima County faces many challenges when it comes to assessment that I have years of experience with. Many people often find it surprising that though we have a little over 4,300 square miles of land, under 25% of that land can be utilized for taxation. The vast majority of land by size is non-taxable. Of that 25% that must be assessed and valued each year another portion is non-taxable due to a variety (over 100) of authorized tax exemptions in Washington State.
